What it makes
A stop end that clips over both top edges of the gutter and closes it off. It slides on from the gutter end, or you can spring one side over at a time.
Use it as a quick fix for a missing or cracked end cap, or on a short run such as a shed or porch.
Measuring your gutter
Most UK half round gutter is 112mm across and about 52mm deep. Deepflow (Hi-Cap) is 115mm across and about 75mm deep. Pick the nearest preset, then measure across the top and the depth of yours to fine tune.
If your gutter has a rolled bead along the edge, set the bead size too.
Adding a spout
Add a spout to turn the end cap into an outlet. A hose spout has barbs that a garden hose pushes onto, to fill a water butt or run water away. A pipe spout is a plain spigot that pushes into a round downpipe or waste pipe.
The spout drops from a short chamber whose floor is flush with the inside of the gutter, so water runs straight in. Keep it in the middle of the floor so the gutter drains fully. It can go straight down or bend up to level, pointing back under the gutter, to either side or out past the end.
Hose and pipe sizes vary, so the presets are typical sizes only. Measure your hose bore or the inside of your pipe, then print the spout tip test to check the fit.
Printing it
- Print the 10mm fit test ring first and snap it onto an offcut. It takes about 15 minutes.
- Print the cap with the end wall on the bed. No supports needed.
- Use PETG or ASA for outdoors.
- Seal it with exterior silicone or gutter sealant in the channel.
Questions
Does it fit Marley, FloPlast and Brett Martin gutter?
Yes. The 112mm half round preset matches the standard sizes those makers list. Kayflow is slightly shallower and has its own preset.
Is it watertight?
With a bead of exterior silicone or gutter sealant in the channel, yes. Without sealant it will drip at the joint.
Can I connect a garden hose or a water butt?
Yes. Choose a hose spout and set the tip to suit your hose. The barbs grip the hose; add a hose clip for a long run.
Does a spout need supports to print?
Only under the spout itself. The cap prints end wall down as usual, with tree supports under the spout touching the plate. A spout bent back past the end wall prints upside down instead.
